Youngsters In International Success
Two of Derby County`s youngsters had good weeks for their respective international sides with Conor Doyle finding the net and Frank Fielding preparing himself for a trip to Denmark for the European Championships. Doyle scored his fourth goal in five games for the United States Under-20`s side in a 2-1 defeat to their French counterparts in Vichy last Thursday as part of their week long training camp. Doyle, who also scored in a 3-3 draw against the same opposition two days before, scored the equaliser after former Rams` loanee Giles Sunu had put France ahead but they fell behind again when Toulouse striker Yannis Tafer found the net with what turned out to be the winning goal.
Frank Fielding, who agreed a three year deal at Pride Park after the season ended, has been named in the final 23 man squad for Stuart Pearce`s England Under-21 squad for the forthcoming European Championships in Denmark. He has been named alongside two other keepers, Middlesbrough's Jason Steele and Alex McCarthy of Reading, in the squad as Pearce looks to take his side one better after losing 4-0 in the final to Germany in Sweden in 2009 last time out.
