Saints & Leeds chase Smith

Saints & Leeds chase Smith

The Daily Mirror reports that fans favourite Tommy Smith has turned down the offer of a new contract.

Southampton & Leeds are believed to be leading the chase for Smith - the clearest link here is that the Saints are managed by George Burley, who of course brought Smith to Pride Park.

However Rams boss Billy Davies has described the report as 'mischief making', and plans to discuss Smith's future with the player next week.

Let's hope Billy can work his magic, as Tommy is expected to be a key figure in the Rams promotion push this season.
