With the recent run of poor performances and a number of players leaving during the transfer window feelings are running high around Pride Park and it's no different at Vital Derby. Here member Dave86 has his say about the failure to bring in any new faces in the transfer window alongside Ben Davies and who is to blame.........
With opposition to GSE growing rapidly at the club and attendances falling (23,159 at Ipswich), how long will it take before something changes? There is an obvious lack of investment form those at GSE with only one player being brought in during the January transfer window and the clubs top scorer walking away for next to nothing (£300,000); but is Nigel Clough completely blameless in all this? I would suggest not. It was his decision ultimately to let Dean Moxey go for a nominal fee who, in my opinion and in the opinion of most of those who sit around me every week, is better than Gareth Roberts and is improving rapidly.
Clough also does not help the team when he regularly singles out individuals and openly criticises them, then moans about a lack of confidence in the dressing room. Also of the players that were available during the January transfer window I am unsure as to whether Nigel Clough was chasing the right ones or not. With the likes of Shefki Kuqi going on a free and ex-derby loanees going to clubs around us, you begin to question Nigel Clough's approach to transfers. One would have thought that he would have brought Kuqi in until the end of the season to boost attacking options and to keep the fans happy. Others such as Michael Tonge could have been brought in on loan with a view of making the deal permanent in the summer. Overall the general consensus is that the board and Clough change their attitudes or leave.
