As the transfer deadline approaches and the rush to make signings in time intensifies The Rams need a new striker, at least according to the latest Vital Derby poll. Nearly two-thirds of all fans think we need a new striker, and this was the clear opinion even before Kris Commons was sold to Celtic earlier this week. With reports linking Derby to a loan move for Martyn Waghorn from Leicester City and a permanent deal for Conor Sammon from Kilmarnock this looks to be a priority for Nigel Clough as well but time will tell if anything comes of either of these deals as the deadline is reached tomorrow. With 60% of users maintaining the need for a new striker this should at least give a little hope in a campaign that seems to be quickly losing its direction over the past few weeks.
The next priority is for a central defender with 17% of the vote and again this looks likely to be rectified with the news that a deal is in the making to take Daniel Ayala on loan for the rest of the season from Liverpool. The young Spaniard has reportedly interested a number of clubs but it is suggested that The Rams have won the race for the services of a young player who was on the scoresheet against them earlier in the season when on loan at Hull City. The full results from Vital Derby users were as follows:
