Tin Man On Commons
Former Derby County player Ted McMinn is happy to here of Rangers` reported interest in taking Kris Commons north of the border after Walter Smith talked about their attempts to sign him from The Rams in a press conference today. Despite his prior links with Derby McMinn openly encouraged the player to make the move to Ibrox although some of his comments in relation to Commons and his performances make you wonder if he has seen him play of late, talking to the Evening Times he commented:
"Kris isn`t really a striker as such, but he pitches in with a lot of goals. He hasn`t been used regularly in recent weeks, and has been substituted in games and his tally for the season still stands at 14. The Rangers fans would love him. He is a tireless worker, he is fast, he reads the game brilliantly and has an eye for goal."
Whilst Commons workrate has improved this season, before his recent dip in form, there aren`t many who would call him a tireless worker or comment on his pace although it can`t be denied he been one of Derby`s main threats all season going forward. The Scottish international has stalled in signing a new contract and has so far been The Rams top scorer with 13 goals so far and McMinn thinks he can score another 15 before the season is out if he switches to the Glasgow giants. Continuing his rather odd outlook on Commons he continued:
"He has got involved in a few altercations with his own team-mates as well. He is their designated free-kick taker, but in one game this season Alberto Bueno, who is on loan from a club in Spain, tried to take one and they got involved in a disagreement. Afterwards, the manager came out and backed Bueno."
Personally, with all that going on, I think it is time for a fresh start for Kris. He is still young, just 27, and has a good few years ahead of him at a high level. He would love it at Rangers as well."
