Doyle Wins First Cap In USA Win

Conor Doyle played the full ninety minutes as the USA under-20 side beat Canada 5-0 in Florida as he won his first cap for his country. The youngster signed a two year deal with The Rams at the start of this season and he has been monitored by the national setup and flew out to Florida last weekend to join in with training and was named in the side that beat Canada for the second time in 48 hours. Thomas Rongen, the USA coach, named different sides in each encounter to run the rule over a number of players with a Joe Gyau hat-trick and a brace from Josh Gatt seeing them run out easy winners. Doyle now returns to Pride Park in time for the busy Christmas period.

Talking to the Derby Evening Telegraph before he flew out to meet up with the squad Doyle spoke of his joy at the call-up and the progress he has made since joining The Rams:

'This is my first call-up and it is a very proud moment - I don't think this year can get much better. This season, whether playing for the Reserves or coming off the bench for the first team, is all great experience. Every moment I step on the field for the first team is a privilege. The call-up rounds off quite a year."
