Kris Commons and Shefki Kuqi were both involved for their country in the week with Frank Fielding and Paul Green both called up but dropping out with injury in a mixed international week for The Rams. Kuqi came off the bench to earn his 61st cap in Finland`s 8-0 mauling of the Faroe Islands whilst Commons played 76 minutes and scored Scotland`s second goal in their 3-0 victory against San Marino. The inform striker was delighted to back in the squad and told the official website:
'I wanted to take my chance to impress the manager, absolutely. I've been out of the last couple of squads, so it was nice to make an impact and get in the managers thoughts for the next game.'
Green pulled out of the Ireland squad with a … injury whilst Fielding was withdrawn from the England Under-21 squad after picking up a knock to his side in the defeat at Leicester on Saturday, both players are expected to make the squad for tomorrow`s clash with Scunthorpe. Russell Anderson has not trained during the week and looks doubtful for the Pride Park encounter which could see John Brayford moving to the centre of defence again with Shaun Barker missing through suspension with Miles Addison and Jake Buxton both still unavailable.
In better news Stephen Bywater is back in the squad having played for the reserves in midweek and Alberto Bueno has a 'fair` chance of returning after missing the last few weeks with an ankle injury. Talking to Derby Evening Telegraph about a possible return for the young Spaniard Nigel Clough said:
'If all goes well this week, we will look for him to train Friday with a view to being available on Saturday. But he has been out for a few weeks, so whether he is ready to start or not will be a different matter."
