Clough Praises Attitude Of Pair

Nigel Clough has praised the attitude of Tomasz Cywka and Shefki Kuqi and has told his side to make it impossible for him to drop them by showing the form they are capable of. Cywka had been a substitute in recent weeks but was brought into the attack for the visit of Watford on Saturday and responded by scoring two goals in the 4-1 victory in arguably his best performance of the season. Clough told the Derby Evening Telegraph:

'A little reminder now and then when you say, 'yes, you've done OK but you can do better' doesn't do players any harm. Tomasz worked harder on Saturday than he has done and he played better. So we are saying to him, 'that's your standard, don't let it drop'.'

The young Pole came in in place of Shefki Kuqi who also earned praised from Clough for his attitude after dropping down to the bench before showing what he is capable of when he replace Alberto Bueno in the first half. The on-loan striker scored the third goal after Watford looked to get back in the match and Clough commented:

'He was disappointed not to start against Watford and only got his chance through Alberto coming off injured. But Shefki took his chance and that is great testament to his attitude. That's what we need from the whole squad."
