'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Bueno Going Nowhere

Nigel Clough has dismissed reports linking Wigan Athletic with on loan Spanish youngster Alberto Bueno in the January transfer window that have surfaced in the press in the last few days. Talking to the Derby Evening Telegraph Clough confirmed:

'Alberto has signed on a season-long loan for us - that is the agreement, he is here for the season.'

Bueno has made a major impact in the short period he has been at Pride Park after joining on a season long loan from Valladolid in August. He has been played mainly behind the lone striker in the 4-2-3-1 formation favoured by The Rams this season and has scored three goals and contributed to the attacking style of football currently the backbone of a six game unbeaten run. Clough continued:

'Alberto is instrumental to the way we are playing, he has to have other people around him who can play as well, and we have got that with Kris Commons, James Bailey , Tomasz Cywka and Paul Green. There are good players around him.'
