Rams Check On Fielding and Grant

Derby County are reportedly chasing two goalkeepers as a replacement for Stephen Bywater with the news that The Rams first choice keeper will be out for at least a month with a fractured wrist he picked up in training. Frank Fielding, previously linked in pre-season, and Lee Grant are the names being bandied about as Nigel Clough looks to bring in a replacement with only Saul Deeney available and the manager not wanting to recall Ross Atkins from his loan spell at Tamworth.

Fielding helped England Under-21`s to qualify for the European Championships in the week after they kept a clean sheet in Romania to win their play-off 2-1 on aggregate. Previously linked with a move to Derby during the summer transfer window he has since dropped down the pecking order at Blackburn and was quoted in the Derby Evening Telegraph as saying 'It is the worst feeling in the world when you are not playing at the end of the week and all you are doing is training, so if someone wants to get me on loan, I'm available".

Former Derby favourite Lee Grant is the other name linked with a return to Pride Park for a short-term loan after his summer move to Burnley has seen him make only two appearances as backup to Brian Jensen. Grant is reportedly looking to move on loan to secure more first team opportunities and would certainly get that with a return to Pride Park.
