Clough: We Didn't Help Ourselves

Derby slipped to another defeat when we went down 1-0 against Sheffield United at Pride Park, which meant we remain without a win since the open day of the season.

Nigel Clough was less than impressed with what he witnessed and thinks that we contributed to our own downfall due to our poor decision making and execution of what we tried.

"When we did get in the positions the decision-making was poor or the execution of it.

We were shooting from daft angles or not shooting when we were in good positions and the young lads were getting a bit confused out there."

Clough did give credit to Sheffield United, who deserved their win, and admitted it was our worst performance of the season.

"That was by far our poorest performance so far this season. We found it very difficult to get going and create anything.

Sheffield United deserve a lot of credit for the way they set up and stopped us playing, but we certainly have to do more than that to create something at home.

We looked a little bit lethargic, which was a little bit of a surprise to everybody because the week's training we've had has been as good as at any time, but the players just went flat."

Clough was talking after the Sheffield United defeat.
