Varney On The Brink

Luke Varney hasn't ever really been Nigel Clough's cup of tea and his arrival at Derby just before Clough's was unfortunate for him. Now another loan move, with the option for this club to sign him, is close with Clough confirming that the final details of a season long loan deal just need to be tied up.

"It is getting very close to a deal being done.

It will probably be a season-long loan with a view to a permanent move. There are just a few loose ends to tie up."

Clough was talking to the media.

The 27-year-old has been linked with several clubs including QPR and Charlton, who he signed from, so it could be any number of clubs that the striker ends up at. The certainty is that Varney will be leaving though and most likely for good this time.
