Transfer News

It looks likely that another player released by Derby County has lined up a new club with the news that former Pride Park supreme George Burley is set to take Lewis Price to Selhurst Park as backup for Julian Speroni. Price was not offered a new contract when his deal ran out in the summer and, after spending most of last season out on loan, it was no surprise when he was told he could leave Pride Park in the summer. The Bournemouth born shot stopper was brought in by Billy Davies ahead of the fateful Premiership season but never broke into the side over his three years at the club and has now found himself a club with the new season only weeks away.

On the incoming side it looks less likely that The Rams will be following up their interest in Scunthopre United striker Gary Hooper, at least for the moment, as The Irons are reportedly asking for too much money for their prize asset. Hooper was a named strongly linked with Derby and it will be interesting to see if this pans out in the same manner as the Shaun Barker saga last summer with both clubs setting our their stall before eventually coming to an agreement. In relation to the signingNigel Clough told BBC Radio Derby:

'Scunthorpe want an awful lot of money for him and we already have six strikers on our books. The combination of those things mean we won't be adding him at the moment.'
