Academy Youngsters Sign Deals

Five of the youngsters in Derby County`s Academy have put pen to paper on their first professional contracts ahead of the new season. James Severn, Kallum Keane, Jeffrey Hendrick, Graham Kelly and Ryan Connolly have all been awarded contracts after progressing well with the Academy side last season.

Goalkeeper James Severn has won international recognition for England and thought he was part of the England Under-19 squad heading to France for the European Championships but was told an administrative error meant he was only on standby for the tournament. Kelly, Keane, Hendrick and Connolly have all represented the Republic of Ireland at various youth levels and Connolly was involved with the first team at the end of last season coming off the bench on the final day against Cardiff City. Nigel Clough was happy with the deals for the quintet telling the official website:

'We're pleased all five have signed professional terms with us and we look forward to seeing them develop further during the forthcoming season.'
