Tonge Hopes For Derby Return

Michael Tonge's successful loan spell with Derby, both personally and professionally, this season ended on Sunday, but he left and impression that he hopes to fill again next season.

The 27-year-old doesn't look to have much of a future with Stoke, having started only one Premier League match since his signing from Sheffield United in 2008, so the midfielder hopes to be given the chance to return to Pride Park.

"I don't know what the future holds for me at the minute. I need to speak to Tony Pulis in the summer to see what he has to say.

But I've really enjoyed my time here at Derby.

It's been fantastic and I'm thankful to the gaffer and everyone else for giving me the chance to come and play here. Hopefully, I will get the opportunity to play here again next season."

Tonge was talking to the Evening Telegraph.

A permanent move is unlikely, however Nigel Clough has already spoken about the possibility of bringing Tonge back to the club in a loan capacity next season. So if a deal can be arranged this is a possibility, the fact that this is wanted from the player as well makes it all the more likely.

I'd be more than happy to see Michael come back on loan next season so I hope Cloughie can agree something.
