'If It's Football, It's Vital'

New Arrivals Close

Two new signings are getting closer for Derby, with Nigel Clough looking to tie up these signings this week.

Tomasz Cywka's loan move has now ended but the Wigan striker now expected to complete a move to Pride Park when it has previously looked in doubt. Another signing is also getting close.

"We are close to getting two in next week, which will be a good start and Russell Anderson's new deal was done a week or so ago.

The moves where a transfer fee will be needed take longer as clubs try to get the best deal.

We will try to do business as early as we can so we know we are settled, but I don't think we will have the squad in place fully, because it might be dictated by one or two loans in July and August."

Clough was talking to the Evening Telegraph.

If we can get some of the dealings that we want to do out of the way sooner, rather than later, this will be a good thing for us. Clough knows the importance of this summer as the balance of the squad has to be right and a better season had next time round.

Now is the time for the Rams boss to get things as he finally wants them, and by the start of the season it sounds as though this will be the case so expectations will rise for us to have a more successful season next time.

We're still waiting Cloughie and the week's nearly over. There is plenty of time for dealings though and getting them right is most important.
