Both Nigel Clough and Johnny Metgod have both talked about Danny Buijs as a possible summer signing for Derby, however this signing looks close to being done and dusted already.
Clough has admitted that the deal is "further along" than he thought it would be but at the moment the 27-year-old wants to concentrate on helping his club avoid relegation, however a deal is done with just the loose ends needing to be tied off.
"We are further down the line with Danny than any of our other targets at the moment
Den Haag are fighting relegation and so he wants to concentrate totally on that.
Once the season is over we will get the deal done. Everything is agreed with Den Haag, it is just a matter of tying up a few loose ends."
The defender was a guest for our win over Leicester recently and the Rams boss says that Buijs was impressed and feels he can handle the move, even though the Championship is a lot different to what he's been used to with Dutch football.
"He came over for our game against Leicester which was totally different to a Dutch League game, as you can imagine, a full-blooded East Midlands derby, but he enjoyed it.
I said to him before the game 'look and ask can you play in this'. He thinks he can."
Clough was talking to the Evening Telegraph.
The ADO Den Haag defender looks like being the first of what could be several signings this summer as Clough looks to finally get the squad together that he fully wants for next season after getting his first full campaign out of the way.
