Anderson To Get A New Deal Soon
Russell Anderson has been impressive for Derby since signing a short-term contract in January, and this will see him offered an extended contract shortly.
The 31-year-old, who moved to Pride Park in January after seeing his Sunderland contract cancelled by mutual consent, will be out of contract at the end of the season but Nigel Clough is keen for him to be offered a new deal as soon as our Championship survival is assured.
"We are looking to do something with Russell.
I spoke to him a few weeks back and said as soon as we guarantee our position in the Championship then we will be better-placed to talk about a deal.
It is just a case of saying we are going to be in the Championship next season and here's what we can offer you.
As soon as we can do that, we will be talking to Russell."
Clough was talking to the Evening Telegraph.
The Scottish international hadn't played a full 90 minutes for 18-months before doing this for us against Middlesbrough recently, this was due to a cruciate knee ligament injury Anderson sustained while playing for Burnley on-loan from Sunderland in 2008.
