Derby Going Dutch

Derby Going Dutch

A potential new Derby signing has been identified, with Johnny Metgod confirming that Danny Buijs is a player we're interested in signing.

The 27-year-old right back, who can also play in midfield, has been tracked all season and Metgod (who knows the defender from his Feyenoord days) speaks highly of him.

"I worked with him at Feyenoord. He can play right-back or in a 4-4-2 he can even push on into midfield.

He is a player with a lot of determination and his work-rate is unbelievable. He gives it everything, exactly like we played in the victory over Leicester City.

Every game he plays he gives it everything he has got. He has a good energy rate, likes to go forward, gets the odd goal, is good at set-pieces and has a long throw-in.

I think he is a good player who can do a good job here. Personally, I would be delighted if he signed because I think he can be a real asset."

Metgod was talking to Sky Sports.

It's not known if ADO Den Haag would even be willing to part with Buijs, however our interest seems to be strong enough as not only has Ram coach Metgod spoken highly of the Dutchman Rams boss Nigel Clough is believed to have travelled to Holland on Friday to personally check on the full back.

Jacob Butterfield`s shot was tipped over and David Nugent didn`t take advantage of a late chance as The Rams failed to find the breakthrough in their first ever competitiv
