McEveley And Teale Made To Wait

Jay McEveley and Gary Teale continue to wait over new contract with Derby.

The Scottish internationals are both our of contract at the end of the season but talks, first mentioned around Christmas, still haven't taken place.

Nigel Clough knows that both could walk away from the club for free and could now start talking to other clubs but is taking the chance that they wont as talks aren't expected until the end, or near the end, of the season.

"We will probably wait towards the end of the season or even at the end of the season now and see what our options are.

They are obviously free to talk to clubs, we understand that, but we have pretty much got tied down those we really want out there in the long term and if it means losing one or two players, that's the chance we'll take."

Clough was talking to the Evening Telegraph.

McEveley has been linked with Championship rivals, and relegation threatened, Ipswich with Teale struggling with injury recently. I'd like to keep both players, and hope they do stay, but can understand Clough's thought process on this.
