Johnson Joins Derby

Derby have started 2010 with a signing by bringing in Lee Johnson from Bristol City.

The 28-year-old has joined on loan and is available to feature against Millwall in the FA Cup.

"Lee is a terrific player and gives us some much needed cover in the midfield positions.

We are grateful to Bristol City for allowing him to come and also allowing him to feature in the FA Cup tie; he will certainly be in the squad.

We have lost a few players with some of our other loans expiring, as well as a number of suspensions and injuries, so it's vital to get some fresh faces in quickly.

Lee is a very good footballer, who knows the game inside out, is experienced at this level, versatile and works extremely hard for the team; these are the qualities we are looking for."

Clough was talking to the official website.

I've always been impressed with the former Yeovil midfielder, who followed his father Gary to Ashton Gate, and I'm a little surprised that he's been allowed to leave them but their loss will be our gain.

Never really liked by Bristol City fans. Even when he did a good job in League One, questions were raised - probably because he is the managers son.
