Clough: Confidence Is Fragile

Derby slumped to another defeat on Boxing as the 10-men went down to a 2-0 defeat against Blackpool at Pride Park.

Nigel Clough knows that confidence is in short supply at the club at the moment but with the simple things, such as passing to team mates, looking difficult at the moment if we can't get that right we're in trouble.

"We seemed incapable of doing the simple things. We looked very nervous and short of confidence.

The confidence is very fragile and we looked for short of ideas. At times we couldn't pass to a white shirt.

We relied on our wide players to create things and I don't think they put in one useful cross. The back four also struggled."

Clough was talking after the match.

If you can't do the basics right you don't have much of a chance! Getting back to basics would seem to be the obvious message at the moment.
