Pearson Keen To Stay

There have been contrasting views on Stephen Pearson's Derby situation recently, but Pearson insists that staying at Derby is his preferred option.

Nigel Clough had said that a deal was close but then his agent Willie McKay said that he wanted a longer contract than the one-year on offer so would study others available to him but the 27-year-old says he wants to stay at Pride Park:

"It is a great club and I am delighted to be here. Hopefully, I can stay here a bit longer.

The manager here is trying to assemble a squad. I want to stay and, hopefully, we can get things sorted sooner rather than later.

"I have had a few injuries, but I have got a clean bill of health now and I aim to stay in the team longer."

Pearson was talking to the Evening Telegraph.

It seems fairly simple really. If Pearson wants to stay and we're not far off a deal then the Scotland international should stay with us?
