Owls Keen On Varney, If They Can Afford Him!
Brian Laws has confirmed that Sheffield Wednesday would like to sign Luke Varney permanently in January but they'll only be able to do this if funds are available.
The striker moved to Hillsborough on loan in August, but is due to return to us in January but Laws would like him to stay if he can but the Sheffield Wednesday boss knows he can only do this if our Championship rivals can attract the new financial investment they're looking for. Another alternative is for the loan to be extended until the end of the season and this is an option that Laws also says they're looking into.
I think that Nigel Clough would prefer to sell Varney, who hasn't really enjoyed a successful stay at Pride Park, but loaning him out would be better than nothing as I'm not convinced that he'll have much of a role to play for us this season, if at all?
