Stead Approach Confirmed

Despite Ipswich manager Roy Keane saying otherwise Nigel Clough has confirmed that he has made an enquiry about bringing Jon Stead back to Pride Park on loan.

"Jon Stead is a player that we have asked about.

However, I don't think that there will be any movement in this direction at the moment."

Clough was talking to the Evening Telegraph.

Some extra firepower is desperately needed so if we can bring a player in that is proven at this level and better still known to the club, as he is, this is exactly what we need to do. The 26-year-old, who spent some time with us back in 2006, is out of favour with the Championships bottom club so I'd expect he could be interested in a return to Pride Park?

Clough needs to tie up a loan deal with someone, and soon.
