After a failed attempt to sign Rob Hulse for £4m on deadline day Middlesbrough are believed to be interested in signing the Derby striker on loan now, with the intention to buy.
Nigel Clough has admitted that we might revisit the possibility of selling Hulse in January but doesn't see what the benefits would be to allowing him to join a Championship rival on loan now.
"I don't see that - how would it benefit us?
Our policy has always been that if we get a big offer of significant value for a player then we will look at it.
So I don't see how letting Rob out on loan would benefit us. If it rears its head again in January, then we will deal with it."
Clough was talking to the Evening Telegraph.
With Chris Porter expected to be fully fit in January this would soften the blow of "potentially" losing Hulse, but if he doesn't want to go, and that is the impression, then he'll not go. I'm not sure that I'd be surprise to sell Hulse sold in January though.
