Rams Leave It Late

Derby continued pre-season with a 2-2 draw against Premier League Stoke, but we left it late to secure a draw at Pride Park.

Stoke went into the interval with a 1-0 lead thanks to Liam Lawrence's goal but Stephen Pearson, who, after injury problems last season looks to be very much in Nigel Clough's thoughts for this season, equalised. Stoke regained the lead shortly after when Ricardo Fuller scored but Arnaud Mendy scored an acrobatic goal, soon after his arrival as a substitute, to clinch a draw and also help his chances of a first-team call this season.

Dean Leacock, Shaun Barker, Lee Croft, Chris Porter and Rob Hulse all sat out the match that also saw Giles Barnes pick up another injury.

Better late than never! Another good workout that will do plenty a lot of good ahead of the Posh match. Good to also come away from a home match with a draw against a Premier League side.
