Commons Set To Return

Kris Commons returned to light training at the end of last week and will be stepping this up from today, with Nigel Clough hoping that Commons will feature in a match this week.

Derby play Burton Albion on Thursday and Alfreton Town on Friday and Clough hopes to have Commons back for one, if not both matches.

"Kris trained last Friday but did not join in the football side of it. Hopefully he can start that today.

He has done three or four days running - he has got some catching up to do in that area - and we hope he will be on the pitch on Thursday or Friday this week, possibly both."

Clough was talking to the Evening Telegraph.

A tight hamstring, initially believed to be a minor problem hasn't quite turned into a major one but has seen the Scottish international sit out all seven pre-season matches so far.

With the season less than two-weeks away we'd need the midfielder to start featuring in some matches sooner rather than later to build up match fitness and this week looks as though it'll see Commons feature in both?

Dean Leacock however it likely to miss out again, but might make one of the matches, almost certainly a match with Solihull next week.
