Deeney To Join Derby This Week

Nigel Clough has confirmed that Saul Deeney will sign for Derby this week.

Clough had hoped to bring in Frank Fielding from Blackburn Rovers but this deal hasn't happened yet, but the arrival of trialist goalkeeper Deeney will happen this week.

"There is no change on Fielding but Saul we will get signed up this week.

So if nothing happens, we will go with Stephen Bywater and Saul in the first game."

Clough was talking to the Evening Telegraph.

Former Burton Albion goalkeeper Deeney, who played under Clough, has been on trial with the Rams this summer and played a big part in the South West tour last week including the full 90 minutes against Torquay.
