Barker To Sign In The Next 48 Hours

A deal to finally bring Shaun Barker to Derby is expected to be tied up in the next 48 hours according to Nigel Clough.

"We are close to agreeing on a fee. We have been saying this for the past week or so but I think we are extremely close now.

There are just one or two loose ends to be tied up before we can talk to the player.

It should mean we get things moving on Shaun in the next 24 hours or a bit longer. It should, we hope, all happen very swiftly.

We would certainly like it tying up so he can play at Chesterfield on Saturday."

Clough was talking to the Evening Telegraph.

The 26-year-old old has been one of Clough's priority signings for weeks now, even though others have arrived in the meantime, but the sticking point was always the asking price with Blackpool believed to be looking for up to 1m for the defender.

With Lewin Nyatanga and Chris Dickinson both leaving on Tuesday this freed up more funds for Clough and this should allow the move to be completed today or tomorrow.
