Nyatanga Joins Bristol City

The second player to have been confirmed as leaving Derby yesterday was Lewin Nyatanga who signed for Bristol City, again for an undisclosed amount.

Welsh international Nyatanga leaves Pride Park with Rams boss Nigel Clough's best wishes for the future.

"Lewin is a terrific lad and a good professional and I'm sure he will do well at Bristol City.

We are looking to make changes to the squad and by allowing Lewin to move it gives us more flexibility with re-shaping our defensive positions.

On behalf of everyone at Derby County we wish Lewin all the best for the future."

Clough was talking to the official website.

I'm a little disappointed to see Nyatanga leave, but if he wasn't in the bosses plans as much as others he wants to bring in are then it was something we had to do for the defender, and our, sakes.

The 20-year-old has signed a four-year deal with Bristol City and will make his debut for them again Ajax tonight.

It's s shame that Lewin has gone, as he has (or had) the makings of a very good defender. But Cloughie knows what he's doing so he's done what he thinks is best.
