Kris Commons and Rob Hulse continue to be the subject of speculation linking them with moves away from Pride Park but Nigel Clough isn't going to let anyone go without a fight.
The Rams boss knows that with these two being two of the best players in the Championship clubs will be interested but this doesn't mean we'll sell them unless it's in the best interests of the club.
"People look at trying to take the best players out of the Championship, and those two are up there in terms of that. They are as good as any forward players in the division.
It is inevitable there is going to be speculation about them, but we will hang onto them as long as we can.
They are important players in our squad.
It would take an offer of silly money for us to consider selling, but it's just talk at the moment. There have been no bids.
If there are any bids, we will sit down and say 'does this benefit the team or not?'"
Clough was talking to the Evening Telegraph.
Once again Clough has stressed the fact that only silly money offers will be considered, which is understandable, but to have a better chance at a successful season Commons and Hulse are two players that we need to keep and build a team around.
