Rams chairman john slighome has sensationally quit as chairman of Derby County.
He is well known to be at odds with other embers of the Derby Board and is believed that he thinks his position is untenable
the club released a statement on Thursday evening it read:
"Derby Counties Boad of Directors have been informed by Chairman John Sleightholme of his desision to resign with immediate effect" the statement continues " The board is not proposing to appoint a replacement but will work together over the coming days and weeks to gide the club through the transition period as smoothy as possible. " The staement adds " Our focus at the moment is on facilitating this process and supporting the manager and his team as we look to improve our league position in the last month of the season"
Sleightholme is apparently one of those who wanted an investigation into the dealings at derby County, In a statement released he said:
"It is with deep regret I resign as chairman and director of Derby County FC Ltd with immediate effect," Sleightholme said in a statement.
"My position has been made untenable. Recently it has come to my attention that without my knowledge meetings have been held, important decisions taken, and documents signed.
"In my opinion, these matters should have been raised at a board meeting or at or least referred to me as chairman. Important information has been withheld from me.
"Furthermore, at my last board meeting I asked for an independent investigation into allegations of payments directly or indirectly made to board members. This request was refused.
"I will continue to give such assistance as I can to help the bank to effect an orderly change to new ownership.
"I would like to take this opportunity to wish Derby County Football Club every success in the future."
he was known to want local people put in charge of the club. And any assistance he can give to the local consortium will be greatly appreciated by a majority of Rams supporters.
