Derby had a wonderful Carling Cup run last season when we made the Semi Final's, beating Man United in the First Leg at Pride Park before losing out at Old Trafford.
Chairman Adam Pearson is looking for more of the same again.
"We went on a tremendous run last season and I think it kept us all from jumping off the edge of a cliff!
So it was really important for us and the nights at Stoke, at home to Manchester United and Leeds were some of the best nights we had last season.
We'll definitely take a good cup run again this time around."
Before we can even consider an extended Carling Cup run again we need to overcome Rotherham at the Don Valley Stadium first in Round One and Pearson knows this will be anything but easy.
"Rotherham are a good side, there is no doubt about that, with one of the best managers outside the Championship.
And Don Valley is not the easiest place to go, so we will want to take a lot of supporters there.
It's not far away and we want to get through that round. We want to progress in all competitions."
Pearson was talking to the Evening Telegraph.
Last season's Carling Cup run was the real highlight of an otherwise indifferent, if not disappointing, season. I'd be ecstatic to see us have another Cup run this season but if it was a promotion push or a good Cup run I think I'd sacrifice the Cup run, but there is no reason why we cant aim for both!
