Ben Pringle has been confirmed as our latest summer signing, with his move to Derby from Ilkeston taking place in July.
The midfielder will sign a one-year contract and Nigel Clough believes that he has the ability to make the breakthrough in the Football League but he'll start his Rams career in our U21 reserve side next season (which is basically a development squad).
"Obviously, this is a signing with an eye very much on the future.
"He is a player we have seen and think has potential to play in the Football League as he progresses.
"Ben also has the attitude and character we are looking to bring to this football club, with a hunger to better himself and play at the highest level possible.
"It's up to the player now to prove himself and make the progression we believe he can make."
Clough was talking to the Evening Telegraph.
Pringle, a former West Brom trainee, has impressed at a non-league level so if he can impress in our development set-up next season then he'll earn himself a longer stay at Pride Park, if not he wont.
It's basically a case of nothing-ventured nothing gained really.
