Buxton Deal Done

Nigel Clough had already admitted an interest in Jake Buxton and a deal has been agreed for the player who will join on a free transfer next month.

"Jake's attitude is first class and we hope he will surprise a few people.

"He is one of those lads who will put his body on the line for the team. Although he has not got experience at this level, he will make up for that with desire and heart."

Clough was talking to the Evening Telegraph.

Clough isn't expecting the defender to be an automatic choice right away next season but knows that he'll show the strength and willingness to want to force his way in.

The 24-year-old is known very well to Clough, who he signed for Burton from Mansfield, and Buxton's just helped Burton to promotion to League Two, a job that Clough started and got well underway before taking over at Pride Park.

Buxton has signed a one-year contract, with the option of another year to following, in what is described as an incentive based contract.

is the fact he's only signed for a year a signal that cloughy is obviously taking a punt on him?
