O'Brien's Debut Delight

16-year-old Mark O'Brien was delighted to have made his Derby debut against Watford on Sunday.

"I was a bit nervous when I first came on but after getting my first touch, I settled in nicely and all the lads were a big help.

"It was a big moment for me and I enjoyed every minute of it. It was just good to get out there and show what I can do."

Being 3-0 down at half time made it all the more likely that O'Brien would get on and he enjoyed the time he had after replacing Lewin Nyatanga, he is just sorry that this debut came in a defeat.

"Because of the way the game was going, I had a feeling I could be getting on but, to get 30 minutes, I was very pleased with that.

"It was a pity we got beaten but it was good to get my debut."

O'Brien was talking to the Evening Telegraph.

It appears as though the academy Player of the Year has a bright future ahead of him and the Irishman could find himself fairly heavily involved next season? O'Brien will be especially pleased with the clearance off the line he made to deny Tamas Priskin.
