Mears Keen On Marseille Stay

Tyrone Mears, currently on loan with Marseille of course, has confirmed that he is desperate to stay with the French side.

"(French and English football) are very different. The game is more defensive in France whereas it is much quicker and offensive in The Premier League.

"I am a professional and always work hard because I know that everything can change in a minute in football. I must say that being part of a club that I love in a place that I love and within a squad where the atmosphere is good helped me a lot."

"I do love this club and hope to play as many games as possible here."

Mears was talking to the official Marseille website.

The 26-year-old left Pride Park in very controversial circumstances so the chances of him coming back to Derby are almost non-existent. It (the move, when he went over to Marseille for a trial that he wasn't given permission for) might have been something that happened under Paul Jewell but Nigel Clough wouldn't be expecting his actions to have been forgiven by Derby fans, and I doubt he would excuse them either.

Mears has rarely featured for Marseille, so even though he now has the chance to do so with first choice right back Laurent Bonnart out injured, he'll do well to stay with them beyond his loan one would think?
