Derby have suspended Roy Carroll after the goalkeeper and boss Paul Jewell clashed following the defeat against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Adams Pearson has confirmed that the Northern Ireland international has been told to stay away from the club for two weeks after the clash with Jewell, however he hasn't been fined and nor is his Derby career over, but time away for all to cool off was the thing that was needed.
'There was an incident involving two parties in the dressing room after the game. Paul has spoken to me about it and after consultation we have decided to suspend Roy for a couple of weeks.
'I want to stress that his career at the club is certainly not over. It is simply a cooling-off period.
'Football is a fickle business and things are said in the heat of the moment in the dressing-room. Feelings are obviously running high after a defeat.
'But Paul is Derby County's manager and with that role goes the responsibility for the dressing-room.'
Pearson was talking to the Daily Mail.
His return will coincide with the opening of the January transfer window, just about, so depending on the nature of the clash and weather or not this cooling off period can work then Carroll's future with the club could still be in doubt?
