Liam Dickinson PFA Interview

Liam Dickinson - Blackpool: PFA interview

Despite still being only 23-years-old, Derby striker Liam Dickinson`s football career has already been somewhat of a rollercoaster ride. After spells as a youngster at both Bolton and Blackburn, Dickinson became disillusioned with football and quit for a while before returning to the game in the non-league scene for little-known clubs such as Trafford and Woodley Sports.

However, a chance to return to the Football League came in 2005 when Stockport snapped him up for a bargain transfer fee of just 2,000 - and since then he hasn`t looked back. He scored 33 times in 94 appearances for County, including a goal in their League Two play-off final triumph last season, leading to Derby forking out 750,000 for his services in the summer.

A loan spell at Huddersfield yielded six goals in 13 games and a second loan move to Blackpool began last weekend when Dickinson made a dream start in the Tangerine colours after coming off the bench to score both goals in Pool`s 2-1 win at Plymouth. Givemefootball`s Mark Shail spoke exclusively to Dickinson to get his reaction to that memorable match-winning display.

I was over the moon, it was a great start for me. The players worked very hard and I got a lot of the glory but it was a tremendous team effort. They are a good bunch of lads and I didn`t know any of them before I came here but I have settled in quickly.

I spent three months on loan at Huddersfield and I enjoyed it, scoring six goals in 13 games. When I returned to Derby, Paul Jewell said he felt it would be good for me to get some more experience on loan and he told me that Blackpool manager Simon Grayson wanted to take me there. So we agreed a loan deal and I`m just delighted to be playing, rather than sat in the stands.
