Varney Ready For A Massive Move

Luke Varney has joined Derby on loan from Charlton, in a deal that will become a permanent transfer in January, and he is happy to say the least.

'It's a massive move for me and I'm completely delighted to be honest. I've always been quite attracted to Derby being from this sort of area.

'I'm delighted to be at such a big club with such a big history.'

Varney was talking to BBC Radio Derby.

The 26-year-old, born in Leicester, initially joins us on loan until January 1st but this deal will then become a permanent transfer with a three-and-a-half year contract worth as much as £1.5m signed by the striker who has found the going tough with struggling Charlton since his signing from Crewe in 2007.

I do find this a slightly strange signing by Paul Jewell, but he must have seen enough to believe that he can get the best out of the striker.
