Jewell Seeking More Transparent Referees

Paul Jewell has called for referees to be more transparent! No, no see-through, but made to be more accountable for their decision and asked to explain why they made the calls they did.

Following his comments about Stuart Attwell, after our 1-1 draw with Forest, he was summoned by the FA to explain himself and this is what he has asked for.

'The public are entitled to know why they've (referees) made a decision.

'It would be nice if the referee stood up and said the reason I did that was because of this, that or the other or I got it wrong.

'All we (managers) want is a voice on the decision making, rule making and I don't think it's unfair of us to ask that.

Jewell was talking to BBC Radio Derby.

Is it too much to ask that referees explain themselves like players and managers have to?
