'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Pleased With Result But Not The Performance

Paul Jewell was pleased with the 4-1 win over Brighton, which booked our place in round 4 of the Carling Cup, but he was not overly impressed with the performance on the whole.

'We haven't got the Forest match out of our system.

'It was a long journey down and with two games in quick succession we looked jaded at times. But the players deserve credit for getting through.'

The win sets up a tie with Leeds next week in the 4th round and Jewell is looking forward to it.

'There's bound to be a tremendous atmosphere. Leeds are doing very well and it has got the makings of a decent game.'

And the win over Brighton also carried on a fine run of form, which has seen us defeated only once in the past dozen matches, and he wants this form to carry on.

'We weren't at our best against Brighton but nevertheless the signs are good for the future.

'We now face a tough league game against Reading who I believe are the best team in the league. We will need to be at our best.'

Jewell was talking to the Evening Telegraph.

We now have a bit of a break before the match with Reading, which should give us an even better indication of just how much we really have improved and just how well we could do this season.
