'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Wrexham Failed With Ambitious Savage Approach

Prior to his loan switch to Brighton it was confirmed by Wrexham that they were close to an ambitious move to take Robbie Savage to the club.

The 33-year-old has always told of his desire to play for his hometown club, and the Blue Square Premier side claim that they had a deal in place but it collapsed after we pulled the plug.

'It looked likely we would have been able to bring in Robbie on loan, especially with a couple of players out injured at the moment.

'The player was keen on the opportunity and it seemed to be within our finances to allow us to bring him in, but unfortunately there seems to have been a problem, which has meant the deal will now not go head.

'It's a shame for Robbie, who was all for the idea, and we certainly could have done with someone of his quality in our squad.

'We do though thank everyone for their efforts in trying to complete the deal.'

Wrexham chairman Geoff Moss was talking to the Wrexham website.

It would've been some coup for Wrexham had they been able to take our former captain to the Racecourse Ground!
