Commons Still A Doubt But Ruben Is Getting Close

Kris Commons, who has missed our last two matches with a hamstring problem, is a doubt for the trip to QPR on Saturday. Paul Jewell knows how much of a blow that would be as he is an important player for us, but hopes it isn't too serious a setback.

'We miss Kris because he opens the door for us a little bit.

'We'll have to wait and see because his hamstring injury is a bit complicated but hopefully it's not too serious. '

Jewell was talking to BBC Radio Derby.

Commons has missed the 1-1 draws with Welsh duo Swansea and Cardiff.

There is better news about Ruben Zadkovich however. The Australian, who hasn't been able to make his first-team debut for Derby since becoming Jewell's first summer signing due to his selection for the Olympic Games and his subsequent return with an injury, is close to returning to full training.

'Ruben is training with the physios now and is not too far away from joining in training.'

Much like Giles Barnes has recently, 22-year-old Zadkovich took part in the warm-up with the squad prior to the match with Cardiff at Pride Park on Saturday.
