Mears To Complete Marseille Move

Tyrone Mears, who caused a major stir when he undertook an unauthorised trial with Marseille, is expected to complete a loan move to the French side today according to chairman of football Adam Pearson.

'The loan has been agreed in principle and should go through today.'

Pearson was talking to the Evening Telegraph.

The 25-year-old was told by Paul Jewell that he wouldn't ever play for Derby again after his trial with the French giants and appeared in limbo after they initially showed no interest in following up this unauthorised initial interest, however a season-long loan is thought to have been agreed with the option of a permanent £1.5m signing next summer.

Think what you want about Mears, but to have gone from the Championship to Marseille is not a bad step is it, so although I am still amazed that an unauthorised trial went ahead it is little surprise that he took this up and to get a deal with the Ligue 1 side would make the risk he took worthwhile from his viewpoint!
