Jewell: Mears Will Never Play For Derby Again!

Tyrone Mears has been told that he will never play for Derby again while Paul Jewell is the manager (which might not be much longer?) following his unauthorised trial with Marseille.

'As long as I am manager, Tyrone will never play for this club again.

'I have left a message on his phone saying he has made the biggest mistake of his life. His behaviour is an affront to our club and its fans.'

It is believed that Mears had been told that he was part of the first-team at Pride Park, with him asked to challenge for a starting place so he wouldn't be allowed to leave in the transfer window, which might have been something that he wanted.

However by going AWOL, with the French side so far not offering him anything after this two-day trial, with us holding his registration he could be left in limbo with nowhere to go but us not being prepared to play him!
