Hutchings Hits Out After A Poor Derby Display

Paul Jewell's assistant Chris Hutchings has slammed another poor performance, following the 1-0 defeat against Southampton on Saturday.

'It was very poor. For the first 10 or 15 minutes we did well but then we fell away very badly.

'We have got good players at this club but they've let themselves down, they've let their team-mates down and they let the fans down.

'I felt that we sat back a bit and let them take the momentum. We made one or two mistakes and it seemed to filter through but we've got to get over that.

'It does take time for a team to gel but good players normally settle in very quickly and we've got to work on that because this is not good enough.

'We were second to everything, we were a yard slower and our passing was off. When you have so many players who don't perform, you are not going to win many football matches.

'If it hadn't been for our goalkeeper Roy Carroll we could have been beaten by three, four or five.'

Hutchings was talking to the official website.

I think depressing best sums up the current goings on, although months and months are hardly current! Defeat you can accept, we have become used to them, but defeats in such a manor are hard to take for all Derby fans.

to be honest ive said all along that paul jewell isnt the right man for the job. he's had his time incharge, he's blamed billy davies for everything (despite the fact davies has a better record with that great win last september). jewell took over and said he'd rebuild the squad with his own players - he's had time and money, it hasnt worked out, the players in arent good enough. time to have one pint of dogging session with his mistress and leave
