Jewell Keen To Keep Leacock

Paul Jewell has said that he doesn't want to see Dean Leacock leave Derby amid speculation that he could be about to sign for Preston. So unless Leacock wants to leave, or we get an offer that is to good to refuse he has no intention of selling him.

'I was told that Alan Irvine was going to ring me three weeks ago, he has not called me back and I don't know what that was about.

'I have not heard anything from Preston about Dean Leacock and we are not overloaded for centre-halves at the moment, so unless it is a good offer, if there is an offer, or unless Dean wants to go, he will be staying here.'

Jewell was talking to the Evening Telegraph.

With the retirement of Alan Stubbs today we have even more need for central defenders so we can't afford to let Leacock go as much as anything!
