Pearson Categorically Denies Jewell Rift

Weekend reports in the tabloids were claiming that there was a rift between Adam Pearson and Paul Jewell after a clash over player signings; with it claimed that Jewell only had four matches to save his Derby job. This has been strongly denied however.

'There is not a scrap of truth in any of it, it is absolute rubbish. I would not normally comment on such rubbish but it is such an out-of-order story and so inaccurate that I feel I must comment.

'I can categorically say I have never had an argument or disagreement with Paul in nine months. It is as strong a relationship as I have had with a manager in the 10 years I have been dealing with managers.

'We have backed Paul with 13 new signings. We have changed the entire backroom staff and the academy set-up. I would tend to suggest that shows we are all here for the long term.

'The report is mischief-making but things like this will only ensure that the relationship becomes stronger.'

Pearson was talking to the Evening Telegraph.

Do the tabloids have nothing better to do than stir things up all the time? If Jewell wasn't being backed then how come he has been allowed to sign 13 players this summer and get rid of others that he didn't want!
